I had fun playing with the flavors of an old southern candy classic—the pecan praline. Luscious, velvety chocolate cake plays host to a sweet praline filling and topped with a gentle swirl of maple buttercream frosting.

Playing with the ingredients of brown sugar, pecans, and maple flavor…

what about a coffeecake swirled with maple and brown sugar, topped with a brown sugar glaze and crushed pecans?

What about using the maple buttercream as a filling, and substituting the chocolate cake for a homemade butter pecan cake?

What about using the praline filling instead as a topping for pumpkin bread? Sounds to me like a perfect fall treat.

Any other ideas?
